The Stone arrives at the yard and the basic form is cut. The block is chosen for the quality of the granite, checked for faults and discolouration, with the quality of the final finish in mind.

| The granite starts to take shape. The clearing of exes stone revealing the first recognisable form. This is heavy work, and to complete the work in a reasonable time, six months, three craftsmen work on it at any one time. |

The carving is constantly checked against the 1:1 plaster model. |
